How They Proposed

A couple of days ago, the New York Times published an article “How They Proposed.”  It included charming stories of engagement proposals from some of the couples featured in their weekly style section.  I was reminded of the most clever proposal story, a half dozen years ago, from one of my favorite couples Michael and Lynn.

The Indianapolis couple were taking a trip to one of their favorite cities—London.   As they took a rest and went for high tea, Lynn pulled out the London Times, which as you will see, included the announcement of his engagement to Michael!  A brilliant way to make the ask!  The following year, they eloped to New York City, and their wedding was featured in the Times.  Today, I was delighted to see that the pair celebrated the anniversary of their engagement by taking tea in their home in Indiana.  I know they wish to be in the United Kingdom to celebrate.  Hopefully, next year!
